PostSubject: The Stone I   The Stone I I_icon_minitimeSat Nov 14, 2009 8:37 pm

Here is the basics.

There is a stone. This stone will give you ultimate power (In what form? Who knows? It's up to the players). You may want it for good. You may want it for evil. But all that is certain is: You (and everyone else) wants it.

So go out and quest! Form alliances! Make enemies! Kill people! Do whatever! The Stone will conclude with one person having possession of the stone.

To create your character, edit your profile. You should be able to.

The dice in the game is for battles. Under Send should be something known as Battle Dice. To use them, select the action you would like to do and make sure the dice number is set to 2. You may battle as many people as you wish at a time.

Immediately after you post, Gamemaster (the guy running this whole thing) will tell the forum who you attacked and the results. The first number is your score, the second is your opponents. The higher number is the winner, and recieves an extra life point and V that can be sold for benefits and bonuses (such as a clue to the location or a +5 bonus in an attack). The loser loses a life point and V. If you run out of life, you die and are out of the game.

-If you die, you can't come back to life on your own-

Alright, so let's go. Create your character, and we can begin.

Character: Ryan Blackfire
Location: Iron City, New Jersey, U.S.A.
Date: October 12, 2085

-----I made my way silently through the filth and debris littering the city's streets. The smell of sewage, decay, and slime hung in the air, and a general sense of oppression pervaded through the night. The tall, dark buildings surrounding me seemed to close in even more,; creating a claustrophobia that put an edge on my already heightened apprehensiveness. It was never a good idea to be outside at night these days, especially in the Iron City. After World War VI almost fifteen years back, everyone walked around armed and dangerous. Even the kindest and most naive people learned quickly that to trust someone to watch your back was to practically write them an invitation to slip a knife there. Not that many people use knives anymore. Anyone who can afford one has one of the new ACCs (Armored Civilian Carriers) that has armor capacity similar to the tanks from the old days, with wheels in place of the treads. You don't want to know what the tanks are like.

-----But the ACCs barely stand up to the cops, with their nigh-indestructible powered armor and their fancy new plasma weapons. Too bad there aren't that many cops to spare, what with the Cold War against the remnants of the Coldfront army from WWVI going on right now. The United States had already gone to the dogs after WWIV, and the next two wars, coupled with the new military technology, only made things worse. Now its every man, woman, and child for themselves, and its no longer a surprise to see a body or two in the gutters. People are willing murder others just to loot their bodies and homes for food, money, and anything of value. The whole world is no longer populated by man, but marauding wolves in human form. It has turned into a lonely, barren world where no one has time for compassion or the pursuit of justice. There is no class for the scum of the earth anymore. That class encompasses almost every human being, and they fall under the first of three categories; My past clients, like so few these days, falls into the second.

-----The second category is made up of the weak people of the world; the victims of those in the first category. So many have turned to their evil ways; so many pillage, murder, use drugs, rape, steal, and destroy. I'm honestly not sure if there are any good people left that will do anything about this world. That's where I come in. As far as I know, I make up the third category all by myself. I am possibly the last person with a scrap of goodness left in them. In a world as destroyed as ours, I barely make a difference with my efforts to help those who can't help themselves. I used to do everything within my power to aid the good but weak people of the world, but that wasn't enough. So I turned to my current proffession, one that I have solely occupied for the last four years. I still help the weak when I can. But now I've turned my sights on altering the bigger picture. Trying to eliminate evil at its source. Annihilating the corrupt. That's what I do now. I make my way around the Iron City, this vast, sprawling personification of what is wrong with the world, and I destroy the most evil people I can find. That's what I was on my way to on the night that changed my life.

-----I found my destination; an short, five-story condemned apartment building with boarded-up windows and scorch marks and grime covering the sides. I looked at the bent and rusted street sign nearby and confirmed that this was the place, although it looked as if there was no easy way to get in. I let out a long, exasperated sigh. Looked like it was time to do things the hard way. An alley between it and the building on my left looked promising. I snuck into the dark alley on silent feet and jumped up, grabbing the fire escape ladder on the second building. I hauled myself up with my considerable strength and continued my ascent up the corroded metal staircase. when I had reached the top of the fire escape, I was only level to the halfway point for my target, so I would need to get creative.

-----I got as much of a running start as possible and then leaped off the top of the fire escape. For a brief second I flew through the air, my long black trenchcoat fluttering in the air. Then i punched out with both armored fists, blasting through the brickwork and anchoring me to the wall. I kicked holes in the wall with my feet, the old brick crumbling beneath my metal armor and physical power. I was now clinging to the way by my hands and feet. I then clawed my way up, using my fingers to dig ruts in the bricks rather than make a racket by destroying the side of the building. It was a slow ascent, and it took me almost five minutes to get to the third-story window, which was boarded up. I clambered onto the windowsill, and sized things up.

-----Surprisingly, I had made little noise in my climb, so it was likely that the dealer who lived here was unaware of my prescence. However, kicking my way through the boarded window would alert him, especially since there was light coming through the gaps in the boards, which meant he was probably in the room beyond. I would need to be ready as soon as I entered the room. I decided my shotgun would be best suited to the close quarters in the building, so I unstrapped it from my back and cocked it. I then readied myself, kicked through the boards, and tumbled into the room. I came up out of a roll and brought my shotgun up. The drug dealer was sitting at an old, battered desk and was attempting to get up from his chair when I fired at his chest.

Mark Nichols.

The world sucks. I admit it. The Third War set us up for failure due to the economy, and everyone decided to kick us while we were down. As a result, all of our land except the original 13 states belongs to Canada and Mexico. We attempted to fight back, but it didn't work. Now the Sixth War is among us, and we are still suffering.

I'm one of the lucky ones. In the time that we needed it the most, I came up with a show that combined elements of torture, talk, and talent. The Three T's of Entertainment. "The Mark Show" was such a hit, that I'm now set for life plus more. But that's not the only reason I'm lucky. With my power, I can influence anyone at all. The land is in my power, to do my bidding. Do I use it for that? No. Can I? Yes.

I was traveling the streets, throwing cash at people to give them a boost. I don't need it, and they do. I spotted an apartment complex where my friend Andrew Brees lives. I decided to go in, but he wasn't there. After standing for a while, I chose to see what was in the rest of the buildings. I entered one. After a minute of exploration, I sat down at an old battered desk. Then I heard a gunshot.

-----The blast from my shotgun hurled the dealer from his chair and smashed him into the wall. The pellets had caught him in the trunk and ripped through his soft, flabby flesh. As he slumped to the floor, moaning in agony, blood streaked down the wall. I cocked the gun casually, readying my next shot. I was used to such reactions from my targets by now, and I reinforced my resolve by reminding myself of what he had done. This consisted of selling drugs to children, poisoning the water supply of a school with it to get the kids there addicted, and resisting arrest, among other crimes such as the murder of several people and the defilation of their corpses(theft of possessions in this case). He deserved to die. I aimed the gun at his head and steeled myself when he let out an inaudible cry of fear and desperation. I was surprised by this, giving him enough time to restate his slurred words.

"Please, man! Don't kill me! What did I ever do to you? I never hurt anyone!!!"

"That's a lie!" I roared in a furious rage. "I know for a fact that you're responsible for several murders and thefts, as well as the destruction of the lives of a school full of children! You also are one of the biggest drug dealers in the whole Iron City, and you've got connections to those higher than you! And I want them. I want names, addresses, importance, everything. And when you give it to me, I'll kill you and end your wretched existence."

He whimpered and continued to plead. "Come on, man, I'm just another guy like you! I've got a life and stuff! You gotta remember that!"

"First of all," I said, "you sound like you're stoned out of your mind. Second of all, you're nothing like me! Whereas you do what you do for money and because you've destroyed your brain with your filth, I do what I do because its right. Now give me the information I want before I blow off your kneecap, scum."

"Please, man -"

"One."

"Come on, you don't have to -"

"Two," I said as I saw him making an attempt to reach some sort of weapon or something in his pocket.

"All right, all right!" he shrieked. "I'll talk. Gimme a second. Uhh ... there was Maconey down on Fifth Street - oh wait, I'm Maconey. But uhh, there was Lebanitz on the corner of Hill Street and McCormack Avenue. He's a big one." Maconey continued rambling off names and addresses while I jotted them down on a piece of paper from the desk, all the while keeping the gun trained on him. I saw out of the corner of my eye that he was grasping something in his pocket for some sort of weapon. From the way he grabbed at it, it looked like it could be a knife.

“There,” he said with a sigh. “That’s all of them.”

“Three,” I said, and fired at his thigh, where he was just about to draw his weapon. Maconey screamed in pure agony as his leg was hit with the spray of pellets from my shotgun. He clutched at his leg with his hand that was in his pocket, and from the holes in his grimy jeans, I saw a flash of steel. A knife. So that’s what he had been holding. Unbeknownst to him, I was wearing my battle armor under the trenchcoat, so it would have done no good to stab me. He continued his mad antics until I cocked the gun again. That shut him up. I took aim at his head.

“Come on, man, I told you everything. You don’t have to kill me.”

I came here to kill you, Maconey. The information was an added bonus, but it won’t atone for your crimes. Now make peace with your deity. It’s time to meet them.”

Just as I was about to fire, the door crashed down, and I saw a familiar face from the television standing in the doorway.

PostSubject: My last post didn't make much sense, so...   The Stone I I_icon_minitimeThu Nov 19, 2009 8:18 pm

IN A WORLD completely composed of text and imagination, one man sought the key to ultimate power: the Saviors' Stone.

[October 12, 2085 (Earth Time)]

My name? Classified
My hobby? Classified
My hometown? Classified

I would type more 2-word questions followed by the word "classified", but I don't have that kind of time.

I will tell you that I have taken on a new alias: Matt-Man; this way it is hard for one to guess my true name.

I will also tell you my goal: I seek a powerful object known as the Saviors' Stone. "How?" you might ask. The answer to that question is, "I... don't... know."

I have done all the research I can on this mysterious object, and here is the information I have gathered thus far:

FILE A: THE SAVIORS' STONE: The Saviors' Stone is a celestial object composed of tightly compacted dark matter. Normally, this kind of object could be potentially dangerous, but some say it is capable of defying certain laws of our universe. If those rumors are not true, than the stone is prone to explode at any time, creating an explosion large enough to re-create the universe.
The stone originates back to possibly before the creation of our universe, which might explain its law-defying capabilities. Very little else is known about this mysterious object, including whether or not it even exists. If it does, it could be as small as a pebble or as large as Jupiter. It could be colder than liquid nitrogen or hotter than the core of the Sun. It could look like a rock or it could look like James Woods. No one knows for sure, or at least no one in [Sector X (Earth Term)].

My journey to discover more about this thing has led me to exploring the universe for other signs of intelligent life. As I prepare to leave in my [Molecular Transporter], I feel as if the entire world I live on has been taken for granted by me, and wherever I end up could be some baron wasteland of violence and crap.

------

October 13, 2085, Midnight

I have lived on planet Earth, halfway across the galaxy for over seven years now. I have accomplished nothing to aid in the completion of my goal. Not only that, but apparently my alias name, Matt-Man, sounds "gay".

When I first arrived, there was some obvious unsettled tensions going on, but no harm occurred. The country I took refuge in, the USA, was a sparkling utopia that continued to thrive. Little did I expect what was about to come.

I studied up on world history here (in less than eight hours, thanks to the advanced technology), and knew that there were five fierce wars between nearly every superpower of the world, known as the World Wars. After I and II, most were sparked by some communist or monarchical government deciding to attack the greatest empire the world had ever known: the US. That was pretty unfortunate for me when December 25, 2080 came around.

On that day, Christmas day, all Hell broke loose. The entirety of west and central America was blown to shrapnel. At that very instant, we knew it was us against the world.... We were screwed.

All children ended up becoming deformed at birth, the colony was in the constant shade of a radioactive cloud, and people's minds became so corrupt; we just gave up organization and peace. Who is our army in this hectic mess? It's honestly hard to tell. Most of us don't even know if the war is over. It doesn't matter, though, because we're just going to kill each other; there's no denying that.

I tried to use my brains for technology to aid ourselves, but our new, reckless society abandoned that, too. That being out of the picture, I couldn't do anything to help.

We relied on ourselves in an "every-man-for-himself" system. Very few of us had anything left. There were the lucky ones, like that big wig Mark Nichols on the television. A small minority of us also decided to try to do something for society. Those naive idiots just went around killing people they believed were doing corrupt things, as if that would help the situation. Did the cops care? What cops.

So, as you can see, we live in a primitively organized society. When your life is like this, it's hard to add comedy to this ginormous description of how much society sucks. Instead, I'm forced to carry on without adding a witty comment here and there. Oh, well.

You know what? My life does suck! I've gotta do something! But what? My only strong suit is technological stuff. I need a guy with guts and bronze. But where?...

A gunshot! I ran towards it (what was I thinking?) and found it to have come from the apartment building across the street. I ran in, and (believe it or not) the first thing I saw was the selfish Mark Nichols....

PostSubject: Re: The Stone I   The Stone I I_icon_minitimeThu Nov 19, 2009 9:56 pm

Character: Simeon LaForte
Location: Monestary of the Stone; Iron City, NJ
Date: Approximately October 12, 2085

I walked down the halls of the monestary. The black, looming monoliths would have seemed claustrophobic to most people, but to me it was home. I had lived here for over twenty years, and I was one of the most respected members of the sect.

We were the guardians of the Stone. The Stone was God's gift to the world--his holy addition to our efforts to control our planet. He had given us the power to do anything we wanted. But, being omniscient, he realized that many would attempt to abuse this power. So, he had hidden the Stone, locking away even its location in an attempt to keep it safe from mankind.

But the location had been found out. The Stone had been located by a few, priviledged individuals, and now the world was doomed.

I was going to see the Elders to get a task, presumably one related to the Stone.

I opened the massive door to the Elders' Chamber. The ancient Elders sat on their cold, stone thrones. They would have looked impressive, if it weren't for the knowledge that not a single one of them could get up unassisted. They were old.

For that matter, I was no spring flower myself. I was forty-one--well past my prime by the current, diseased world's standards. But I was still tough enough to take on any one of the members of the monestary and live.

I was arguably the most well-trained of all the monestary's monks. I knew weapons like few others and I had the wisdom and judgement to know when to use them.

One of the Elders opened his mouth, and a whisper issued forth. This whisper was amplified by the microphones placed on his person--the Elders were too old to speak clearly, but they needed to be heard.

"Hello, Brother Simeon. We have called you here to give you an important task in the search for the Stone. The most important of all, in fact.

"You are not the greatest warrior of us. Nor are you the smartest, or the wisest, or the most agile. But you have the best combination of abilities, in our opinion. You are to be sent out to search for the Stone. Find its location, secure it if possible, and report back to us. If it is necessary, we are willing to spend our lives to get the Stone, but we would rather you get it for us. Bring it back here, so that we may protect the corrupt, wicked world from its ultimate power."

I was shocked. The Elders had given me the highest honor of all--searching out God's holy Stone. I stammered.

"Take whatever weapons you need from the armory. But before you go, we wish to present you with a unique weapon. One that will aid you well in your quest."

He signaled, and a pair of monks strode foreward reverently, carrying a small, wooden box. They opened it. A small pistol lay inside.

"This is the Mandate of God, called Justice. It will deliver God's vengence unto the corrupt. It is the holiest of all weapons here."

I picked it up, and flipped the safety. A thrum resounded through the weapon. I aimed it at a target another monk set up, and fired. My shot hit true. A burst of plasma issued from the muzzle, and burned the center of the target to cinders.

"Holy ones, I will not fail you."

I left, walking for the armory. I strode inside. Looking at the shelves, I selected an array of weapons and ammunition--an assult rifle, a shotgun, another pistol, several grenades, a knife, and a few packages of high explosives--C4.

I then strode to my room and opened my closet. I undressed and hung up my clerical garments. I then pulled down the only other hanger in the alcove--a black, skintight combat suit. Due to my status in the monestary, I had been given one of the most powerful suits. It was bulletproof, plasma-resistant, and semi-powered, meaning it enhanced my strength somewhat. It was also mostly resistant to heating and cooling effects. And, it carried with it a right to carry weapons--my priviledge as a priest.

I donned the powerful clothing and strode from the room. I didn't even notice the long walk from the monestary to the streets. I walked to the door that separated the enclosed, holy structure from the outside world of grime and sin. I spoke to the gatekeeper, asking him to let me out. He knew who I was, and immedietly opened the door.

I would not be too conspicuous--monks often walked the streets, and many people were smart enough to stay out of the way. We were highly trained in combat. I strode confidantly through the streets, until I passed a building where I heard a scream. God was telling me something--that I needed to go inside.

I opened the door and strode in. I made my way to where the scream had come from. The scene I saw confused me, but I drew Justice and prepared to loose it upon the sinful.

I was prepared to use my ninja-like skills on that Nichols jerk, but then I found what he was staring at: A guy with a gun who decided to point it at me! What was I thinking when I ran in here!? I screamed like a girl and ran. I barely made it halfway across the hallway when another guy with a gun came out and aimed it at me, too.

Crap.

Character: Ryan Blackfire
Location: Iron City, New Jersey, U.S.A.
Date: October 13th, 2085 (12:04 A.M.)

-----Everything had gone to heck all at once. I was just about to blow off Maconey's head when Mark Nichols, that twisted entertainer/torturer from TV, burst through the door. This was surprising enough, but then I heard feet tramping up the stairs in the hallway. A second later, another stranger stood in the doorway, out of breath.

-----I turned my shotgun on them and was just about to start an interrogation when Maconey saw his opportunity and whipped out his knife. He started slashing and stabbing wildly with it, and even though my armor protected me from his blows, he cut my trenchcoat to ribbons. That pissed me off. I only had so many trenchcoats, and this one had just been dry-cleaned. Now it was ruined. I grabbed the overconfident drug dealer and slammed him into the wall, driving the air from his lungs and cracking the rotted drywall. I then locked out his arm and smashed my armored elbow into his soft, fleshy one. His elbow broke with a sickening crunch and I pressed my advantage.

-----I punched him in the face to further distract him, grabbed him by the lapels (a dumb move if he wasn't in so much pain), blasted him in the gut with my shotgun, and threw him out the window I had entered through. He bounced twice off the alley walls on his way down the four-story drop and finally hit the ground with a soft thud. There was no way he could have survived all that.

-----I turned back to start interrogating Nichols and the stranger when I realized that the stranger had escaped down the hall. Nichols was staring at some commotion down the hall. I shouldered my shotgun (it had a strap made for this purpose) and pulled out my six-shooter .47 caliber revolver, Little Brother. As an added precaution, I pressed a button on my left gauntlet, and four six-inch spikes popped out of my forearm guard. I stepped into the hallway, put these at Nichols throat (in case he tried anything), and gazed at the unbelieveable scene before me. The stranger was staring down the barrel of a plasma pistol (a deadly and expensive weapon), which was held by a monk from the Iron City Monastery. Monks (also called priests) were renowned for their weapons and hand-to-hand skills, and the plasma pistol in this guys hands didn't change any of that.

-----Seeing that the stranger was covered by the monk, I immediately trained Little Brother on the monk's forehead. I wasn't going to start firing indiscriminantly, but I wasn't taking any chances, either.

-----"All right," I roared, "I don't know who any of you are or why you're all here, but I want answers, and I want 'em NOW!"

Character: Simeon LaForte
Location: Maconey's Drughouse, Iron City, NJ
Date: October 13, 2085

I pushed past the person in front of me. God had told me that the reason I was here had just been shot out of a window.

I charged into the room. A man stood, heavily armored, with a smoking gun. By the doorway stood another man, one who even I knew. He was Mark Nichols, the game show host who tortured his contestants to death in order to make enough money to pay the winner a paltry sum and to pay himself an exorbant one.

I turned to the man with the gun. "You will never get the Stone, heathen!" I said, blasting him with Justice. Not bothering to view the result, I jumped out of the window after the man who had been shot. I slid down the brick, my gloves growing warm because of the friction. I hit the ground, and found the body, still warm with blood.

I searched through the pockets of the clothes the man was wearing. I found what I was looking for--a small note, partially soaked with blood. Meet us at the old brick foundry. Burn this when you finish reading it. We've gotta discuss the stone. ~Lebanitz. This was what I had been looking for. A lead on what to do next.

I walked down the street, heading for the industrial section of Iron City, called The Hellhole by its inhabitants because of the heat and smell. A thousand thousand people worked there, smelting weapons, armor, wires, vehicles, and even some of the military's Mechs. The dry blaze from the forges and the stench of too many humans working too hard made that area almost unbearable. The people that lived there were the scum of the earth, so horrible that the rest of the city wouldn't take them as vagabonds. They were barely men.

Which was why I went ready to dispense justice.

Uncanny, the roll didn't work. You need to set the dice rolls amount to 2. Since the first number was a one, you would've lost, so, damage done anyway.

I sighed with relief. The monk with the gun ran right past me; but he then decided to shoot at the vigilante. It was crazy! The vigilante dodged out of the way, pulled out a gigantic gun (don't ask what it was called, I have no idea), and shot the monk as he jumped out the window!

I sat there, wondering what a "heathen" was...

*heathen- an uncivilized, unenlightened, or irreligious person*

Now that that's cleared up:

I ran downstairs and passed the alley where the gangster lie with pretty much obliterated bones. The monk was nowhere to be seen.

Okay, so there's a guy upstairs with a ginormous gun, possibly hunting you down for no apparent reason. What do you do? I'll tell you what I did: I did what any civilized man would; I stol- uuuh... "borrowed" a car I found outside. It was actually a nice ride: a shiny red Ferrari with everything functioning, from air conditioning to hover plates. What kind of person these days would have anything even half as decent as this thing? Oh, right, Mark Nichols. I thought for a moment, What is the right thing to do?... I drove off.

It was great because, not only did it have an autopilot function, but it had the GTS (Global Transporter System) upgrade, which allowed the car to go to pretty much any specific place. Too bad there were no rocket-enhancements; the US moon base would have been nice to live on.

I laid back and closed my eyes after telling the car to go to Colony 5/ Sector 9-1.24- Virginia Beach. Of course, I wouldn't go swimming, because no one wants to die in abnormally polluted waters. So, anyway, I was laying back, when I came across a revelation. The monk yelled something to the "heathen" about the stone!!! What could the vigilante have to do with it!? I couldn't run away if I'm finally coming close to accomplishing my life's goal! I turned around.

Basically, I've found a lead on the location of the Saviors' Stone, I'm driving a red Ferrari (which looks totally weird with my contradicting green skin), and I'm looking for a man whose current goal is to kill a certain guy with green skin. Speaking of killing people, I wonder what happened to Nichols? Eh, he probably had a car to get away fast enough- oh, wait.... Riiiiiight.

I arrived back in town, parked the car in a secluded location so the owner would know not to go looking for his "borrowed" vehicle yet, and ran back to that nasty apartment building. I ran back up to floor 4, and, would you believe me if I said I found the vigilante and Nichols in the same spot? Hehehe.... No, seriously; would you?...

-----"You will never get the Stone, heathen!" cried the monk in an unexplainable rage. I had no idea what he was talking about, but there wasn't really time to contemplate it as he let loose a blast of plasma at me. Not bothering to see the result, he immediately headed for the window through which I had entered the building and Maconey had left his miserable life. I ducked under the plasma blast, which barely missed my head, and fired a shot from Little Brother at the monk in retaliation. The bullet caught him in the ribs and sent a small spray of blood into the air. Meanwhile, the plasma blast scorched my trenchcoat, setting it on fire, and continued past me to melt a small hole in the wall.

-----Enraged at his unprovoked attack and the further ruining of my trenchcoat, I tossed off the burining rag, revealing my shining black plate armor and the kevlar bodysuit underneath. I pulled my extra weapons from the trenchcoat before they could go off prematurely and stamped out the flames. I then gathered the smoldering remains of my trenchcoat, tossed my extra weapons in it, bundled it all up, and threw the makeshift sack over my shoulder, along with my shotgun. I then reached back and pressed a button on my armor at the base of my neck. At once my helmet assembled itself around my head, encasing my head and activating itself. I switched the settings to normal sensory mode and walked from the building, this time through the front door.

-----Nichols was still standing in there, and I caught a brief glimpse of the stranger making off in a Ferrari he had hijacked. I immediately unslung my shotgun, cocked it, and fired at the thief's car, intending to take out the hoverplates and apprehend the thief. However, in my haste, I missed horribly and the pellets caught the car in the liscense plate. No major damage had been done, and I let him go for now. I looked around for the monk who had attacked me, but he was already gone. Sighing discontentedly, I walked into the alleyway, checked that Maconey was dead, and searched him for anything of importance. There was nothing, so I left his body alone. I wasn't about to steal from the dead. I needed money, but I wasn't desperate.

-----I decided that the dealers were more important than the crazy priest and his stone. I ran off towards the address of the highest dealer in Maconey's ring; Marko Ryker. He lived relatively close by, and he lived in the very warehouse that he did business in, so it was highly likely that he would be there. It took me an hour on foot, which I spent reloading on the run and keeping to the shadows. There were a lot of people who hated me for my noble actions, and now I didn't have my trenchcoat to disguise myself. I would probably be able to take any gangs I came across, but the cops didn't take too kindly to my vigilantiism, and while I was confident I could take a few footsoldiers, they had much more at their disposal than grunts.

-----I made it to the warehous without incident and this time was able to kick down the front door. I drew my rifle from my hobo sack and quickly scanned the vast, empty warehouses. There appeared to be no one there. I caught sight of an office space similar to Maconey's on the upper level and ascended a metal staircase. When I reached the desk, there was a bulletin board on the wall, and a note written in bright red ink caught my attention. It read: Meeting at the Brick Foundry in the Hellhole at 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 13. Discuss location and options for obtaining the stone!!! BE THERE!!!

-----Obviously, Ryker was there or on his way there right now. It sounded as if the meeting at the foundry would have several of the ringleaders of the drug ring, and I couldn't miss this oppurtunity to take them all out at once. I would have to cover 1.5 times the distance I just covered in half the time. It would be close, but if I left my stuff here and ran, maybe I could make it before the meeting ended. I had to take the chance. It was late and I was tired, but this opportunity erased all fatigue and galvanized me into action. I dropped my shotgun and hobo sack on the floor (I would come back for them later) and ran from the building at a fast but steady pace. Maybe the priest wasn't crazy. If this stone was the same one the priest was talking about, I would definitely have to check this meeting out, especially since he was serious enough to shoot at me. With these thoughts rushing through my head, I ran off into the night, into the waiting arms of Hell.

"You will never get the Stone, heathen!" What was that all about? I decided to slowly slip away from the chaos and looked around the house. I found a note on the floor (this guy was really unorganized) and read it.

"Meeting at the Brick Foundry in the Hellhole at 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 13. Discuss location and options for obtaining the stone!!! BE THERE!!!"

Holy crap, today was the 13th! I decided to pin the note to his bulletin board, and went outside to get in my Ferrari. But it wasn't there. "Damn," I swore. "That green guy must've gotten to it." I grabbed my cellphone and dialed a secret number. Within seconds, the machine I called tracked my location and sent another of my cars to the location.

Now I love my Ferrari to death, but sometimes, I like to drive something a little more green. That was the car that came to me.

I stared at the road as my Prius parked itself.

I got in my Prius and drove to the Hellhole, while I listened to Lady Gaga. I pondered for a minute if people looking at me would think I was gay, but I decided to not, because the stereo began playing "Starstruck."

If you said you believed me when I said I found both the vigilante and Nichols, well... you shouldn't have. I found nothing but blood and dust.

Again, I pulled out my handy-dandy backpack! This time, I reached for my sweet goggles and switched them to infrared sensory mode. I looked at the ground and found foot-shaped red marks, just as I was hoping. I followed them outside and they went in two different directions. One trail must have been Nichols', but it mysteriously ended on the road. The other trail, however, seemed to go on for miles. I'm not dedicated enough to walk that far, so I went to the [anonymous location] and jumped in my new Ferrari. I really need to get something green, I thought. At least it was better than having no car, like Mark from the telly.

I hooked the goggles up to the GTS and the car followed the exact trail of the mercenary. After driving for about 5 minutes (making it now 12:45 AM, October 13, 2085), I arrived at a big warehouse in the middle of nowhere. The vigilante had to be in here!

I walked in, expecting the worst, but got the exact opposite. The vigilante wasn't there, thus making it impossible for him to shoot me, and he left behind a sack with a note, not to mention his gun! Awesome! I took it, ate some bread I found in his sack, and read the note: "Meeting at the Brick Foundry in the Hellhole at 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 13. Discuss location and options for obtaining the stone!!! BE THERE!!!" I now knew where the vigilante was heading. I couldn't believe it was this easy! I also had a way to defend myself now I had this big gun. Albeit, it was a primitive one, it could still blast someone through the gut.

So, I walked with pride towards the Ferrari yet again, but then my luck decided to die on me. A voice behind me yelled, "Hey, you!" I turned and found three guys pointing their (much larger) guns at me, and out came my scream again. They ran at me, took my gun, and tied me up. 20 more people came (give or take; I couldn't tell because I was soiling myself [I would not like to share where I soil myself from, because the picture in your mind would be unbearable]) and one of them took my Ferrari! I couldn't help but shed a tear there.

How did this all end up happening to me? Every time I get a break, someone is trying to kill me! I mean, come on! I regret trying to be like one of those idiotic noble people, now, of course, since a bunch of Mexican guys with bandannas and cigars were hoping to remake the infamous alien autopsy video....

Character: Ryan Blackfire
Location: The Hellhole, Iron City, New Jersey, U.S.A.
Date: October 13, 2085. 1:45 a.m.

-----I moved as quietly as I could through the smoky, hazy, filthy streets of the Industrial District of the Iron City. This area was full of cops trying to protect the armor and arms foundries, and I was a wanted man. However, there was an advantage to losing my trenchcoat. My completely black armor blended into the shadows, and there wasn't enough light for it to reflect much. I glanced at a streetsign and determined I was close to my destination. The brick foundry wasn't far away. I checked to see that the street was clear and then made a mad dash for the three-way intersection at the end. There were no shouts or plasma blasts, so I assumed I was safe...for now. I went right and continued my silent jog down the road until I came within sight of the building.

-----I slowed to a walk and considered my options. There were about seven cars parked outside of the massive building, with its smokestacks and pipes and concrete walls. That meant there were probably seven dealers at the meeting; these guys didn't seem like the type to carpool. They would have probably entered through a front, side, or back door. That was the accepted method of entry, and was therefore expected. Even the cops used a front, side, or back door in most cases. I was not a cop. I needed to get creative. To catch these guys by surprise (a difficult feat, considering their paranoia), I would need to make a stealthy and unexpected entrance. Guess what that meant? That's right. The roof.

-----I walked over to an adjacent building and opened the door. Inside, I quickly found the staricase and rushed up to the roof. I took a few deep breaths as I judged the distance. The brick foundry was separated into eight floors. The first two made up the base, where the meeting would probably be taking place. The other six were stacked on top of the base in a roughly pyramidical formation. The base and the roof I was standing on were roughly level, and the distance wasn't too great. I was confident I could make it.

-----I backed up, took a running start, and leaped off the roof. The jump carried me across the alleyway below, but not far enough up. The buildings weren't as level as I had thought, and I crashed against the edge of the foundry's base's roof. I scrabbled at the roof briefly and finally managed to pull myself up. I found and opened a door leading from the roof to a descending staircase and walked down without a sound. I opened a second door and found myself standing on a catwalk that ringed the top of an empty, rectangular, two-story room. I caught sight of the drug dealers sitting at a large table below in heated discussion. I drew Little Brother from his holster at my hip and pressed a button on the back of my neck. This activated the sensory enhancements in my helmet. I pressed the button twice more, and a tiny microphone popped out of my collar. I pointed it at the dealers and it picked up their conversation.

"...informant said that the last place the stone was seen was the Vatican City in Italy. That means it's probably still somewhere in Europe, but it could be on a whole other continent."

"Whadda' ya' mean, somewhere still in Europe? Doesn't this stone thing stay in one place? Or does it use its "magical powers" or whatever to buy a plane ticket?"

"If there weren't five other people besides us here, Lebanitz, I'd knife you for that stupid remark. But yes, I believe the stone's properties allow it to conduct instantaneous travel - a teleportation of some sort. That's partly why its so hard to get."

"Okay, so we think the stone's in Europe. So what? What do we need it for anyways?"

"It is said that the stone grants unimaginable power to its wielder. Think of how well we could do without the cops to keep us down. Or even the United States government as a whole. There would be no one to stop us. We could rule the entire city."

"Just a minute there, Ryker. You said wielder, not wielders. Does that mean that this stone ionly gives its power to one person? 'Cause if so, my boys are takin' you all down. That stone's mine!"

"Calm down, Melvin! I don't know exactly how the stone works. We'll deal with that when we actually get the stone. For now, let's just focus on finding it. By the way, has anyone heard from Maconey yet? I called his apartment almost an hour ago, but there was no answer."

"He's probably too stoned and hung over to get out of bed. You know Maconey."

-----I took all of this in, my head spinning. I retracted the microphone and took aim at Ryker's head. Whatever this stone was, I couldn't let them possess it. They had stated their intent clearly enough. I was in way over my head, but I at least had to do what I came here for. These guys had done enough to deserve death, even without their plans of domination. I readied myself for the first shot, knowing the others would scatter once Ryker went down. However, It would be simple to pick them off in their state of confusion. I got ready for the kill and -

Mark Nichols
13 October 2085, 1:25am

I was almost at the Hellhole. Good thing too, my CD was almost done. As I listened to the last few seconds of The Fame, I averted my eyes from the road for a second to pull out my phone. I wish I hadn't done that. My foot pressed a little too hard on the petal and my Prius accelerated.

CRASH! The Prius slammed into a truck filled with gasoline. My airbags deployed, and I was blasted with the brute force. Stuck between a chair and a bag of air, I tried to unbuckle, but it wouldn't work. F--k.

It was time to get creative. I grabbed my phone (it's an iPhone) and clicked on the first app I found. Instantly, my iPod created a high power laser that could cut through my bag and the door. "Wow. There really is an app for everything," I muttered to myself. I ran from the car just before it exploded in a fiery blast.

After a short walk from the explosion, I arrived at the Hellhole. I discreetly opened the door and went in the room, and looked up to see that stranger who had the trenchcoat aiming down with a gun.

"Who the hell are you?" asked one of the people there.

"Mark Nichols. Oh, and the guy who is about to save your life. There's a gunman on the roof attempting to kill you all."

I smiled as everyone looked up at the roof, revealing the trenchcoat guy's shocked expression.

PostSubject: Re: The Stone I   The Stone I I_icon_minitimeMon Nov 23, 2009 8:01 pm

Outskirts of Iron City, October 13, 1:09 AM

I had been sitting here a while now, and decided to reach for something... anything I could find in my pocket. I pulled something out- my money. At least I knew they didn't steal any while I was soiling myself.... Wait a second, I only have 18V out of the 25V I had before. It's as if some deity out of this universe was biased against me and stole it for no reason.

After about a minute, those guys came back, gagged me, and blindfolded me. Oh goodness; I hope they don't have tendencies! but, thank goodness, they didn't, and they just kidnapped me. I was thrown in the back of a pickup truck and they drove me way far off, and, judging by the smell of things, we arrived back in Iron City, again. They pulled me out and forced me to walk into another large warehouse, which turned out to be the very same [Heck] Hole from the note I found. It's a shame those Mexicans stole the gun and hobo bag.

(If this is hard to understand, think of it like that scene from The Dark Knight)

I was forced to sit in a chair, surrounded by a few other kidnapped personnel, and they put weird masks on us. We looked like poorly-plastered mobsters. They set a recorder on the table, and a file kept playing, over and over again. They were saying something about the stone, but, judging by this particular situation, I'm fairly sure it was made specifically to mislead someone, but who else knows about this stone? I mean, I've been looking for it my whole life, and apparently everyone on Earth has known about it without telling me!

Here's what the recording said:

"Already, the meeting is officially started! Everyone shut up!"

"As you all know, we're here to discuss the matter of ultimate power for one another: the Stone of Hope." Yeah, the "Stone of Hope" thing isn't working for me.

"Ryker, did you find the location of the stone?"

"The informant said that the last place the stone was seen was the Vatican
City in Italy. That means it's probably still somewhere in Europe, but
it could be on a whole other continent."

"Whadda' ya' mean, somewhere still in Europe? Doesn't this stone thing stay in one place, or does it use its "magical powers" or whatever to buy a plane ticket?"

Does that mean that this stone only gives its power to one person? 'Cause if so, my boys are takin' you all down. That stone's mine!"

"Calm down, Melvin! I don't know exactly how the stone works. We'll deal with that when we actually get he stone. For now, let's just focus on finding it. By the way, has anyone heard from Maconey yet? I called his apartment almost an hour ago, but there was no answer."

"He's probably too stoned and hung over to get out of bed. You know Maconey."

"I dunno, he could be dead."

"Who [bleep]ing cares about that mother [bleep]er!?"

Et cetera, et cetera.

I had just begun to listen to it for the fourth time when I saw the vigilante at the window! Oh, thank goodness, I'm saved! Then I realized he was pointing his unnecessarily powerful-looking gun at my head. Crud, again. That would explain the masks. I have to admit, it was a clever plan, at least.

Just as I began to admit my regrets, Nichols came in and saved my life! He walked in and I heard a man hiding in the shadows behind me demand, "Who the [heck] are you?"

Nichols responded with, "Mark Nichols. Oh, and the guy who is about to save your life. There's a gunman on the roof attempting to kill you all."

Well, he did save my life, that's for sure; because we all looked up and saw that the vigilante refrained from pointing his gun at me. There was a very shocked expression on his face, that told me, personally, "I am shocked, but as long as VALHALLA FORUMS are in my life, I will be alright."...

Character: Simeon LaForte
Location: The Hellhole
Date: October 13, 2085

Simeon jogged towards the Old Brick Foundry.

Suddenly, a group of drunks accosted him.

"Hey, buddy. Where're you goin'?"

"Get away from me," he said, threateningly.

"Naw, we don't wanna do that. We want your alms. You're a priest, right? You gotta have alms."

"I don't have any alms. Get away," he said, losing his patience.

"Well, then, if you don't got anything for us, I guess we'll just hafta kill you."

Simeon pulled out his plasma pistol. "Get away."

"NO!"

He started firing into the crowd. He had given them fair warning, and they had guns.

But there were too many. Monks were well-known for their fighting skill, but not even Simeon could hold out against the thousands upon thousands of drunks who now swarmed him, drawn by the prize of the plasma pistol.

A hundred bullets thudded into his armor. Although strong, it had been compromised. The heathen who wanted the stone had shot him earlier, and now it would cost him.

He collapsed beneath the hoarde. The gun fell from his hands, hit the ground, and shattered, as if it knew that it was about to fall into the wrong hands, and it didn't want to be taken.

Simeon's world turned black, and he saw the face of God.

Then, his body was no more.

Okay, still sitting here... (chirp, chirp)

WHY IS NO ONE UNTYING ME!!!? And how do I keep (coincidentally, of course) ending up in the same place as Nichols and the vigilante!? How did Nichols even get here?

Wait, I sense a disturbance in the force! It's as if some monk was just attacked by a big crowd of drunks! Or maybe I just soiled myself again? All I knew for sure was the mercenary atop the catwalk above just looked over at something through the window; something BIG, because he jumped back and nearly fell from the platform he was on....

Not to mention I PUNCHED MYSELF FOR NO REASON!!!

So, I was sitting here, fully aware that I had not waited for someone else to share their part of the tale, when a giant piece of ceiling randomly fell from directly above me!

The green man known as Matt-Man was no more. Oh, and he cannot be revived.

Do not fret! He will (possibly- depending on whether or not Jmill is still leader of the forum) return in the next story!

Character: Ryan Blackfire
Location: The Hellhole, Iron City, New Jersey, U.S.A.
Date: October 13, 2085. 2:01 a.m.

-----No! How could this happen? Curse Nichols to Heck for warning the dealers! I should blow off his balls for that! But, as the window to my right exploded in a shower of glass and ten gang members came tumbling through on rappel lines, I realized I had bigger problems to worry about. I whipped Little Brother up and fired off a full chamber into six of their heads. Instantly, through years of building up reflex, I dumpede out the used chamber and snapped in a fresh one. I took out the remaining four gang thugs with precise shots, then saw my shotgun laying among their bodies. Not bothering to ponder why it was there, I shouldered it and descended a metal staircase to the first floor, where the drug leaders were scrambling around like mad chickens, trying to escape my avengeance (Is that a word?). I looked around for the one in charge, and spotted Ryker as a chunk of the ceiling came down on his head and broke his neck, killing him. At least he was dead. And now I didn't have to waste a bullet on that scum.

-----But as the piece of drywall hit him, bluish-green blood spurted out nof his crushed neck. That wasn't normal. I ran over to him and immediately realized that something was wrong. This wasn't Ryker, just someone wearing a mask. And as I pulled off the mask, I saw the agonized face of the green man from Maconey's hideout. Both he and Nichols were here, but what did that mean? And why were his hands and feet bound and his mouth gagged? It seemed as if the drug dealers had used their gangs to set a clever trap for me, but that didn't explain why they had only sent ten thugs. My questions were answered as I set about unbinding and ungagging the hostages. They began to explain at once how they were knocked out and placed here as bait for me to take me out once and for all. But before they could tell me if the recorded conversation was false or not, the front of the warehouse erupted into a storm of fire and a hail of bullets. Everyone in the warehouse, including Nichols and I, was thrown back by the force of the explosion. And as I rolled to my feet and the smoke cleared, my worst fears were confirmed. Aparrently the drug dealers had managed to commandeer a mech from the police.
